The short version: Discount is the smallest prize. Escalator caps, term structure, and implementation scope are worth more over five years and vendors part with them more readily.
Reading a vendor quote properly
The number on the front page is rarely the number you pay. Here is what to check before comparing two quotes.
The short version: Compare five-year total cost with the escalator compounded, not year-one price. The cheapest headline is frequently the most expensive contract.
